Revered Buddhist Visits Stonehill College
Easton, MA -Returning to Stonehill for his fifth visit in recent years, Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh will lead a six-day retreat at the College, August 11-16.
Entitled Be Peace, Be Joy, Be Hope, the retreat explores the art of mindful and peaceful living and it provides the foundation for looking deeply within oneself. It also offers walking meditation, silence, tea meditation, and deep relaxation.
A bestselling author, scholar, poet and peace activist, Thich Nhat Hanh, 82, is perhaps the world's best-known living Buddhist after the Dalai Lama.
With over 900 participants, the retreat is sold-out with a waiting list. Sponsored by the Unified Buddhist Church (UBC), the retreat attracts people from many different faiths as well as those who do not practice religion.
"The success of Thich Nhat Hanh's retreats stems from the graceful, meditative way the Buddhist monks and nuns approach life and how they share that perspective with others," explains Chris Augeri, director of Conferences and Events Services.
